Lake Toba, with an area of 1,130 to 1,145 square kilometers (km\u00b2), is the largest lake in Indonesia. Formed by the eruption of the Toba supervolcano thousands of years ago, it is recorded as the largest volcanic lake in the world and recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark.<\/p>\n

The lake is also unique for having an island in its center, Samosir Island, which is very large, almost the size of Singapore.
